Rebates & Referrals

No doctors referral is required for physiotherapy treatment. Physiotherapists are a primary provider and as a result do not require a doctors referral.

A doctor is trained as a medical doctor whilst a physiotherapist specialises in the musculoskeletal facet of medical health.

In general, medicare does not cover physiotherapy. We accept all referrals from all doctors but there will still be a gap to pay.

Rebates are available if you have private health cover with extras. Each health provider provides a different rebate depending on the level of cover. You can claim your health rebate directly at the practice through the HICAPS system.

Any client with private health cover extras can attend Cadence Physio with only a gap to pay, claimable on the day through the HICAPS system. Cadence Physio is a preferred provider with HCF and Health Partners.

With a doctor’s referral we provide bulk billed physiotherapy through medicare with an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) referral. There are up to 5 sessions available through this program and you need to ask your General Practitioner (GP) if you may be eligible.

An initial consultation takes between 30 and 40 mins. Most follow up sessions take 30 mins.

On your initial consult you will see the first available physiotherapist. If you are referred directly to a certain physio then we will do all we can to provide your initial session with the physio in question. We will always endeavour for you to see the same physio to provide continuity of care. However all of our physiotherapists work in a similar manner to provide certain outcomes.

Generally items of clothing will need to be removed to allow best assessment and treatment of your condition. However we are sensitive to any concerns you may have and have blankets to help you feel comfortable with assessment and treatment.

At Cadence Physio we have both male and female physiotherapists consulting.

The initial consult is slightly more expensive and from this point on there is a standard consulting rate. There is no discount for multiple visits.

Once your condition has improved and you are self managing our physiotherapists will recommend an ongoing program and inform you of your discharge plan from physiotherapy.

Remedial Therapy, Acupuncture & Pilates

A physiotherapist has a university degree focused on the human body, biomechanics and the mechanisms of injury and rehabilitation. A remedial therapist is a diploma based professional focused on hands on massage release.

No, a remedial therapist is not a trained physiotherapist.

Cadence Pilates and Cadence Physio work closely together to provide and promote great health outcomes for our clients. Our expert physiotherapists are the main thing in common we work across both Cadence Physio and as instructors at Cadence Pilates. You can find out more about our unique approach to Pilates Here.

Acupuncture is the use of microfilament needles to address pain and dysfunction through the musculoskeletal system. Cadence Physiotherapists are experienced in both acupuncture and dry needling. It helps to aid healing through trigger point release and improved blood flow to aid healing.

The same types of needles are used in both acupuncture and dry needling. Acupuncture has more traditional origins in Chinese medicine and involves positioning of the needles along meridian lines whilst needling is used to manipulate and release specific tight tissues.
